Stories and pictures:
Irish Hare....finally

Last year I spent a glorious two weeks photographing Irish Hares on the island of Mull, lots of fun but pretty much a failure in terms of capturing sellable images, with only 2 pictures that were actually any use. This year I'd less time but more knowledge of the island, and field knowledge is everything.

Brown Hares are quite easy to get close to if they approach you, no need for hide just a little research, Mountain Hares can be approached if your prepared to crawl and you get a little lucky. I had tried both these approaches on the Irish but neither worked so this time I opted for a hide. Out of the week I had the hide set up there was only one morning when the Hare actually came within range. Thankfully I was ready and managed to capture some images of these magnificent and frankly cute cousins of the Mountain Hare.

A fantastic week was followed by a sensational Mull wildlife weekend with Arle Lodge, pictures are now available for viewing on the gallery page, Mull is simply a mind-blowing Island so new dates anounced for next Autumn.
