Muscling in on the Mustalids
Half of my photography time over the last month has been spent on
buzzards and the other half researching a new location for our first
ever Otter Weekend. I am so excited about this!
With the Buzzard shots, I have chosen slightly more unusual ones,
with the sun backlighting them in most of the shots.

This was actually pure luck, as I had not thought about this shot
at all when setting the hide up. The creativity was in the animal
choosing its location and some lucky weather conditions.

One of many reasons I only use wild and free animals is that they
are so much more creative naturally than I could ever choreograph.

Plus you get the thrill of being incredibly close to a truly wild
and fairly large predator. Unbeatable!

I now have superb location for our first ever Otter Weekend Experience:
on the Isle of Carna, in Loch Sunart just off the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.
What a location! I had four days to investigate the potential of
the area. I was within three metres of the animal numerous times
and the pictures here are just stage one, sketches if you like.

The weather was pretty windy so the otters can totally disappear
from view even when very close. Sometimes all you get to see is
a wee nose taking a quick breath before they dip down again in search
for a tasty morsel.

Visiting Carna is a fantastic opportunity to learn about otters,
see them at close quarters, and have great adventures on a beautiful
island. All the details about the Otter Weekend can be found here
and we are taking bookings now.
Have great fun out there with the wildlife and well done to everyone
who has entered our facebook monthly challenge, keep them coming!
