A Mute Dunking
Loch Etive, one of the most beautiful sea lochs in the country in
my opinion, is a real mixture of wild landscape, great wildlife
and rural industry. My initial aim for this month was to photograph
the magnificent Mute Swans near Kelly's Pier on Loch Etive.

The technique I used was to get into my dry suit and wade in to
get as close as I could to these huge (especially when they are
up close) and regal animals. As ever with wildlife surprises are
never far away and a slightly confused Whooper Swan was hanging
around.

I am convinced it thinks the two Mutes were its parents as it
stuck to them the whole time. What a treat to get two such amazing
animals in this spectacular landscape.

As ever, my approach was faultless and planned down to the very
last minute details
even leaving the top of my drysuit open
so I would not sweat too much and could spend a long time with these
great animals. Genius, or so I thought, until to get a really interesting
angle I laid down in the shallows, filling my drysuit up and ending
that days shoot.

Luckily I do not require clients to go in the water, but as past
clients can testify, trying to get that great shot in our Flight
Masterclass you can get pretty close to the odd rogue wave!
Happy wildlife adventures, have great fun out there with the wildlife
and well done to everyone who has entered our facebook monthly challenge,
keep them coming!
